BEST CHOICES are fruit and unrefined sweeteners. Fruit contains fiber and nutrients. Many less processed sweeteners contain traces of vitamins and minerals. Choose organic and fair trade whenever possible and use rarely.

ALTERNATIVES include refined sugars which are processed and often grown with GMO crops and pesticides. Choose organic and fair trade and eat rarely.

AVOID for now...high fructose corn sweetener (made with GMO corn). There is no organic HFCS. Artificial Sweeteners are FDA approved so they could be OK, but only time will tell how they effect our bodies and the environment. Sugar Alcohols aren’t digested in our bodies so consuming more than a little could produce gastric distress or have a laxative effect.

* Better choice for Diabetics

+Honey shouldn’t be given to children under 1 years old.
